I found myself single and pregnant at the age of 35. I didn't know where to turn or what to do. Throughout my journey I witnessed the transformation of myself from womanhood into motherhood in it's rawest form - as a single parent. As beautiful as this journey has been, it has also been the most overwhelming time of my life. I have come to realize that sometimes the most unexpected events can ultimately be the catalyst that jolts you forward to reaching your highest potential. I drew upon inner strength and courage that I never even new existed within me - until I became a mother.
Motherhood exposes every emotion that lies deep within you, and transforms your spirit to new heights that you never thought possible. It doesn't only change your world - it becomes a whole new world. Mothers face the highs and lows of every aspect of life - from heartache to joy, selfishness to selflessness, weakness to courageousness, and depression to determination.
My goal as a woman and mother is to encourage other mothers to strengthen their inner spirit and rise up to ultimately becoming their most authentic self; For it is looking within that allows us the opportunity to strengthen and grow not only as a parent, but as a person.
As a visitor here, you are part of a wonderful community of mothers. I encourage each of you to personally challenge yourself to become the best version of your self this year, and every year for the rest of your life. Support each other in knowing that your perspective, suggestions, and comments do make a difference as it provides invaluable support for other mothers around the world. Let's rise up together and congratulate ourselves for all of the hard work that we do!
Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. Drop off a meal for a new mother in your neighborhood. Open the door for a parent with a stroller. Make a funny face at the child who is fussy in the store. Reassure new parents that they may not feel like they know what they are doing, but that they are doing a great job. A few kind words goes a long way! Let me know when you help other mothers by posting on my Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter accounts - I LOVE hearing from you!
Last but not least, check out my podcast 'Spotlight on Motherhood' by clicking on the image above, and pass it on to any mothers or mothers-to-be, because it truly DOES TAKE A VILLAGE to raise awareness on important motherhood topics and #fourthtrimester. Happy listening!
